Actually, I saw your ping Milla after Dan did the last server reset tonight and you were in the low 70's. A 50 m/s ping difference between you and a guy getting a 20 m/s ping is like 5/100ths of a second difference in reaction time. A guy getting a 20 ping has a slight edge, granted, but the operative word here is slight.
You hear that RMP!!!
According to this article, anything around 100 m/s or less is perfectly acceptable for fps games (skip to the summary on pages 11 and 12): ftp.cs.wpi.edu/pub/tec.../06-13.pdf

Uhhuh.. 100 is playable, no argument there, but not competitive vs. a 20 ping. when it hit 70 I could actually hit the 20 pingers the odd time, as opposed to at 100, where there is no chance to lead, the gap is too drastic. That difference is there all the way down to 50 ping. If you are playing a pyro, blasting flame in all directions, it makes up for the lag, but playing a scout vs. scout, the difference is dramatic. Somewhat impossible to determine the lead you need to make to hit the target. Even a 50 ping lag makes a difference. I have played at 20 ping before, and it takes away the need to lead your shots, by a dramatic amount.
That being said, it matters little when you have a gun like the heavy spraying lead in a 25 foot circle, but when trying to hit a target with say a fist, knife (Or sniper rifle) it makes a huge difference. I wont even get into latency, and PC specs.
All in all, no complaints, but knife fights and punching are less fun when you have to get lucky to hit a target. I've always been at around 100, so I'm used to it. (I have seen some PWN at 100 ping as well in knife fights) They must have a good way of leading that I cant comprehend.

Sorry Alan, didn't mean to sound patronizing. I'm sure you know just as much about higher latencies as I do.

LOL... I did not take it that way. Text suxx. hehe. I was just trying to explain the difference. Now in a game like WoW there is no issue.

THAT being said, thank God you don't have a better ping, cause the way you been smokin me makes me think you'd be a real pain in the ass if you were any better.
As for the melee kills, although I have pretty good ping usually ( I think anyway), mine are ALL luck. I just jump around, and flail wildly. Are you telling me I am suppose to be aiming and shit?
