crap! Looks like the deal might be dead already. Guess I should've thought of it sooner. I'll keep an eye out for other deals. Please do the same! I think it would still be agood idea to have a list of interested people, so we can jump on it if it comes again. I can justify spending $38 on this game right now, but not $50.

Fucking losers, buying into the whole EA Games Corporate model of war game addiction!
As if the last 57 war games patches, expansion packs, and weapon mods you all bought weren't enough, here you go again, trying to be "All that" another uber 30+ shit hot gamer that still for the life of you cannot beat a twitchy 16 year old cola buzzed virgin who's nut-sack is yet to drop with a girl voice 12 octaves higher than anything you could ever hope to squeal out of your vocal chords. Now here you are hollering at the screen at a silly war game that is the same damn thing as you have seen a thousand times before, only now the wife gets pissed off as well, that your kids are going to hear the profanity as you scream out "BOOM!!!! Headshot you Tween Bitch Mothafukka!!!! You been PWNED!!!!!"
My downloads at 11%... see you online soon Bitches!

My first impressions are...
-Server browser doesn't display pings, they all show 999 or nothing. Google results show that many others have the same problem, but none of the common fixes did it for me. For now I have to connect to servers with the location in the name to get a good ping.
-Weapon bob, what is this? My soldier apparently walks like a penguin and has wrists made of mozarella cheese. Hoping for a config file setting to tone this down.
-WTF bloom burning my eyes, had to turn the contrast down. I played a snow level with the default settings and I almost went blind.
-Picked medic and I don't have a medkit or paddles or...anything. Basically I was a noob Assault kit. I promptly switched to Engineer, where I at least had an RPG but no repair tool. Hooray for unlocks.
Yeah my initial impressions are pretty negative but I was on the fence about this game. I didn't much like Bad Company 1 and am leery of console style shooters on the PC. (I own a 360 and I haven't made game love to it for like a year). Then again they don't make PC exclusive shooters like they used to. However I played a few matches and had a good time, I had a few games with a 3-1 k/d ratio but I think it's because I was playing against nubs. I think it will pick up once I get past the initial unlock phase. The weapons handle better than any battlefield game before and the destructible buildings are cool. Also it feels the most balanced in terms of vehicles (especially aerial vehicles) of any other battlefield game. (Fuck Nazgul). Single player is welcome and pretty enjoyable, but not spectacular. Overall I still have good expectations for the game. If it delivers enough crazy WTF moments like other Battlefield games I'll be happy.

I have the same ping not displaying problem. I was getting owned bad and then I checked where some of the servers I was playing on were situated. Who would have thought I'd be getting a high ping from Australia. Geez, it's only like 11000 miles away...WTF? So now I do the same as you and just look for the origin in the server name specifically. Hope they fix that soon though, it's annoying.
My experience has been mostly positive so far, but the one thing I would tone down is the snipers. I think there should a bit more weapon drift if you stare through the scope for too long or something. I dunno, they just seem a little too, uh...snipey? Is that a word?

So far I am again highly enjoying it. Currently rank 16 for what time I get to play in. Have both Recon and Medic and Engineer about 70% Unlocked.
Medic for example as stated above is just an assault class for about 1 or 2 games than you get your Med Kit, you quickly get your Paddles next so it's sort. Also keep in mind, just because you unlock something doesn't mean you HAVE to use it. MEdic alone I use about 8 different set combinations depending what I want my role to be on that map.
Class wise at this point I can't say a single class is > than all. They all have an incredibly good niche in the game. Snipers may seem OP on some map, but the Engineer can reign on others, or the Noobtubing Assault in a more infantry based map.
I am heavily enjoying it. We have a server up if you guys don't have one to play on (Currently it's in a Rush rotation, just search Csab, all the old guys are playing again which is nice).

Can I get some system specs and idea of the performance from those that have it?
It sounds like the gameplay is more like COD4 and BF2? I know it's modern setting, but the action and feel. What games is it most like? Do the vehicles have a natural feel? Bf2 vehicles always felt like video game simulations to me.

Personally, I think it's maybe the best of the series so far. One major step forward in realism and tactical planning is the fact that just about everything is destructible. Whole buildings can collapse if damaged enough. Got an enemy hiding behind a wall? Blow a huge gaping hole in it with a grenade and then take him out. You can mow down trees and expose lurking enemies during firefights in thick jungle environments. Once you see it in action you realize that it's not just a gimmick, it opens up whole new set of possibilities and it's so well integrated into the game, like it was always a part of Battlefield.
On the vehicle side of things, the choppers are still deadly in the right hands, but mounted guns and RPGs take them out fairly quickly. Feels balanced that way. I think the vehicles feel pretty solid for the most part, not floaty or weird. The tank drives like a tank. Solid and heavy. The quads and jet skis are fast and fun. The Bradley is great, except you only get 7 or 8 shots off at a time between reloads.
One of the highlights is the sound design. The audio is just fantastic if you have surround speakers or headphones. The graphics are right up there with COD, but high frame rates require fairly beefy hardware. They recommend a quad core, but my dual core 3.17 gHz handles it just fine (though I do have it overclocked up to 3.48 gHz). I have two 8800 GTXs in SLI too which helps tremendously. From the in-game options I'd say that the game is fairly scalable for different computers.
I recommend it. It's as good as the best battlefield games in the past, with several welcome improvements.

I am good with proc/mobo/memory I am certain. My new (yeah just FINALLY stepped up) Gfx card is only a 9800GT, so that is gonna be my bottleneck I am sure.
I am really starting to like the sound of this. Espcecially after what MNR sed about the vehicles. Also, I have been DYING to play with some destroyable terrian. Remember how tanks would just bounce off of trees, and kinda get stuck on them? I just hope you guys are all still playing, when it gets cheap enough for me to justify buying it. I heard I can trade in games at a local shop. Gonna see if I can cuz Bash has TONS of old PC games I could trade in. If that's the case, then I don't mind spending the initial release price.

I had several friends on my squad say the same thing about medic class. I don't know if it is because I have BF veteran status (2 or more BF games) but my Medic class has the defib and basic medkit. I then earned them as unlocks again.
If you haven't done it I would recommend to all get your Veteran status so you can have the 1911, M1 Garand and Tommy Gun (M1A1).
Good to see you again JinX!
On another "first impressions" note on the game. I did notice spawn camping/raping constantly occurring on Atacama Desert. It is like the CoD kiddies have no respect for how the game is to be played. I also love the 8 recon players on each team.
