Jah! I am about ready to get a new HDD for OS. The Raptor never lived up to the hype (I found this was due to me getting an 8mb cache version). I will have to wait for one on the desktop though, till they come down a bit in price. I am really interested in the application of these in lappys, and that is prolly where I would put one first. I believe they consume considerably less power.
What I really like about them, is the potential for raid in teh future. As the bigger drives become more common, these smaller ones will come down in price hopefully. It may not make a 24 drive array practical, but 5-10 perhaps? You also have to like the idea of no moving parts. Should make these suckers reliable as all get out, and durable to boot!

SSD's are great for certain apps.
OS's and high seeking programs benefit greatly. I use one for Flight Sim X and it does a great job. For other games like MW2 I didn't notice anything going from my HDD to the SSD besides initial loading. In game nothing.
